This one troubles me. I have seen many Christians curse and use vulgar language on their statuses."If you are to curse, curse in your own name."
The language our christian youth use is embarrassing and disappointing. We teach them every week on how to watch what they say and teach them as kids what not to say yet they grow up and don't realize how many souls they are pushing away from church. If you claim to be a Christian and you use that type of language what's the message you're getting across?
Don't worry about how bad your day was, it can be down right terrible, but don't even mention that, because non believers will think "This person is a Christian and they always have a bad day, what kind of God do they worship?"
A major negative making threats and cursing? I know this kid whos eighteen years old, baptized and curses more than drunk people. I had to remove him as a friend. He is very well liked by all his friends and at first glance he seems like a good christian boy, but once you see his facebook page or hang out with him personally, it's like a snake shedding its skin. He got rid of that outer shell and becomes his true self. It was very sad to see. Here is this well like guy and instead of using his personality to bring souls to christ, he uses it to get girls or fit in with some crowd.
Bible texts you say? Ok
Ephesians 5:4 "Dirty stories, foul talk and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, remind each other of God’s goodness and be thankful!"
Matthew 12:34, 35, NIV. “How can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.”
Proverbs 13:3, NIV. “He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.”
Matthew 12:36, 37, NIV. “Men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
I don't expect anyone to be perfect, I understand we get caught up in this world and we slip, if you do, go back and delete the status. Don't leave anything out there that can be used against you later.
